with me

APRIL 9, 2020

Hey honey!

It’s a difficult time in our world. The coronavirus is causing a huge negative impact on people globally and it isn’t something that should be taken lightly. It’s more important than ever to listen to the CDC, socially distance when possible, and wear a mask in public. Everyone must do their part in order to help our world and stop this virus. I wrote this post to give y’all a few ideas ways to spend your time and be more productive while stuck at home.

Get into a Routine

During this time of social distancing and staying at home, it can be easy to get in the habit of sleeping in and staying in your pajamas all day… believe me I know. But, I have found that doing this is not very conducive to productivity. Yes, you might be having to work from home now, your schedule may look different, and you are having to find a new way of doing things, but that doesn’t mean that life stops. After this pandemic has passed, life will continue on. Some ideas you can implement in your routine are waking up early, making your bed, eating a good breakfast, and getting dressed for the day. When I begin my day by actually getting up early and getting ready, it puts me in a more productive mood. Maybe your routine doesn’t look like mine… that’s okay, find what works for you.

Stay Active

I feel like when I think about this weird time that we are in, I associate it with stagnancy. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t stay active. Although many places to work out are either closed or unsafe to go into, you can still stay active. Take this opportunity and enjoy the outside. Take your dog on a walk, go to the park, take a jog, work out, or do some yoga. If you are not used to working out, now would be a great time to start!

Try Something NEW

With all of this new free time many of us have at home, you can finally do the things you never have time for. You can still make the most out of this unusual time. So, use this time and read that book you have been meaning to read, clean out that closet that has been piling up for years, or start that blog that you have always dreamed of starting. Just try something new. Who knows maybe you will find your new favorite passion!

"

And the people stayed home. And read books, and listed, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignornat, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.

PAMPER

YOURSELF

Okay, I know that a lot of this blog post was about trying new things and being productive, but remember that it’s okay to pamper yourself. It is still okay to sleep in, to stay in your pj’s all day, and do nothing every once in a while. This new normal is just that… NEW. There is no right or wrong way of doing things, and no single way of approaching this temporary way of life. So, if you want to have a spa day at home and watch movies all day… then do it! This time of uncertainty and anxiety is difficult, but it is not permanent. Relax if you need to.

Stay Connected

Finally, stay connected! Living in isolation can have a huge impact on your mental health. It is so important to utilize the technology that we have to connect with family and friends. Use social media to stay informed of what is happening around the world and in your friends lives. FaceTime loved ones that you are unable to visit, or just have a game night with the people that live in your house. Remember that although we are having to stay socially distant, you are not alone and you don’t have to go through this alone.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and maybe got some ideas of ways to spend your time at home! Remember to be kind to others and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any prayers! We will get through this.
-Love, Emily & Alyssa
