Sunny days are here and it’s time for a picnic! Who doesn’t love warm weather, good food, and even better company… I know I do. Picnics have always been my go to activity when I want a fun, little summer activity to do on a budget. If you’re looking for a little inspo for your summer picnic, keep on reading!
What you'll need:
The Essentials:
Here are the basics. If you bring nothing else, bring these items.
- Picnic blanket
- Picnic basket / tote bag
- Plates & silverware
Food:
Main:
- Pesto Pizza
Ingredients:
- Ciabatta bread
- Pesto
- Tomatoes
- Mozzarella cheese
Snack:
- Fruit
For the main food, you can really bring any food you like, sandwiches, pasta, etc… but my go to is pesto pizza. This is one of my favorite meals and it is perfect for a picnic. All you need to do is cut Ciabatta bread in half, spread the pesto sauce over the bread, add a few slices of tomato, sprinkle as much cheese over the top as you like, and pop it into the oven at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes. So simple and so yummy!
What picnic is complete without fruit? It is bite size, fresh, and screams summer picnic!
The Extras:
Although these are not essential to a picnic, they do add a nice little touch. Yes, food is the main star of a picnic, but you can’t spend the whole time eating, right? A journal to write in or a book to read is a great way to relax and spend your time once the food is gone or your stomach is full. While you have the picnic set up, you might as well grab a camera and have a cute little photo shoot. And of course, to really set the vibe, you’re gonna need the perfect summer playlist.
- Journal / Book
- Camera
- A friend
- Music (click here for the ultimate summer playlist)
The Outfit:
My go to picnic outfit is definitely a simple one. There is something so effortless about a basic tee or bodysuit and a pair of jean shorts. This is one of my favorite outfits to wear when I don’t want to put that much effort in, but still want to look cute. If this outfit isn’t really your style, just pick something that is more you and remember to keep it simple and comfortable. You’re going to be sitting on the ground for a few hours, so you don’t want to pick an outfit that is too constricting.
- Sunnies
- White tee
- Jean shorts
- White sneakers
