Summer essentials title

Summer is finally here!

It’s time to bring out your big floppy hat, sunnies, and your favorite swimsuits. There is just something about that sweet summer smell of sunscreen in the air and the feeling of sun on your skin. Stick with me as I break down the top 15 items you need this summer.

Clothes

Summer outfits are all about the basics. A lot of people think that in order to have good summer style, they need blouses with bright colors and loud prints. While there is nothing wrong with having a couple prints and bright colors in your wardrobe, it is not a necessity for your summer outfits. So keep it simple, grab your favorite pair of jean shorts, and stick to the basics when it comes to tops. As for shoes, white sneakers are the perfect basic that go with almost any outfit, dressy or casual. A simple sandal is great for a day at the pool or the beach where you don’t want to have to deal with socks or laces. And of course, we can’t forget about the ultimate summer clothing essential: a bathing suit… which I think speaks for itself.

Accessories

Accessories have the power to change up any look. If you were to wear the same jean shorts and basic top over the course of a few days, you outfit could have the power to look different based on the accessories that you style with each outfit. Although there are many different great accessories, these five are just a few of my favorites!

Beauty

I cannot stress this enough, but wear your sunscreen! Not only is it important to wear sunscreen on those hot summer days, where you are going to be in the bright sun all day, but sunscreen is important even on cloudy days, or days where you are not planning on going outside. Sunscreen is the number one prevention against aging and wrinkles.

As far as makeup goes, I don’t know about you, but in the summer months, I want my makeup to look glowy and bronzed, while still looking as natural as possible. So, if you are going to be going outside and sweating, I recommend using cream: cream blush and cream highlighters. I like drawing my blush over the brim of my nose to mimic a sunkissed look. This will give you the most natural looking skin in the hot, summer days. To get the perfect summer glow, bronzer is also a must. Since hopefully you’ll be wearing sunscreen, bronzer is a great way to warm up the skin and give your face some color.

Sea salt spray is a new favorite of mine. I always love doing something with my hair, whether that means having it braided, curled, or straightened. However, in the summer, where there is a high probability of my hair getting wet, I don’t always want to take the time to do my hair. Sea salt spray is a great way to add texture to your hair, without having to waste time styling it, or having to worry about it getting wet.
