Spa day at home title

This world that we are all living in can be pretty hectic at times. Some days you just need to have yourself a little spa day at home so that you can wind down and get the relaxation that you need and deserve.

Over the years, I’ve developed my favorite ways to relax and have a spa day at home! Get ready to relax.

Start with Yoga:

number 1

Yoga is a great way to start off your relaxing spa day. It is a mind-body practice that involves controlled breathing, attention, and relaxation. Although it may just seem like a bunch of challenging poses, there is a lot more to it. Yoga has many benefits like decreasing stress and anxiety, increasing cardiovascular health, lowering blood pressure, and so much more. If you are new to yoga and are unsure of how to do it, there is no need to worry! My favorite way to do yoga at home is to look up yoga videos on YouTube, dim the lights, turn on relaxing music, and follow the instructor’s guidance.

Candle

Create an Ambiance:

I feel like the number one most important aspect of having a spa day is creating a relaxing vibe. For me, this means lighting my favorite candle, turning on a calming playlist, getting in my comfiest clothes, and defusing my most relaxing essential oils. My essential oil diffuser is crucial for my perfect spa day. Essential oils are so versatile and they provide many benefits while promoting relaxation.

Here's a list of my favorite essential oils, along with the benefits of each

Lavender: relaxation, sleep, relieves headaches
Eucalyptus: clears sinuses, increases mental clarity, combats stress
Peppermint: cooling vibe, relieves headaches
Lemon: reduce inflammation, boost energy, relieves nausea

Pamper Yourself:

While you have the perfect ambiance going on, it’s time to pamper yourself. This means painting your nails, putting on a face mask, journaling, dry brushing, using your facial gua sha, and doing any other thing that makes you feel your most pampered. Now is your time to go above and beyond to do the little things that you never create time for.

Take a Bubble Bath:

If you didn’t take a relaxing bubble bath, did you really even have a spa day at all?? But in all seriousness, baths are my favorite way to begin or end a relaxing day. Bath bombs and Epsom salts are a few of my top picks for a perfect bath. My favorite bath bombs definitely are the ones from Lush and I love the Dr. Teals Eucalyptus and Spearmint Epsom salt. Epsom salt baths are the perfect way to detox and recharge your body. So fill up your warm bath, add two cups of your favorite Epsom salts, put in your perfect bath bomb, pick out a good book, and get ready to relax!

...or a shower

If baths aren’t your thing and you’d rather take a shower, there are still other ways to create the perfect spa ambiance. Placing three drops of eucalyptus essential oil on the floor of your shower right before you start the water will create the perfect vibe. The steam from your hot shower mixed with the refreshing smell and the cooling effect of eucalyptus creates the most soothing shower.

DIY Cooling mist spray
number 5

DIY:

A little DIY never hurt anyone. Because we are doing the perfect spa day at home, I figured I’d throw in a few of my favorite DIY spa related things here.

Cooling Body Mist

I don’t know about you, but I love mists. Everyone has been loving the Mario Badescu facial spray lately, but they can be pretty pricey. Although this is not a facial spray, I found this method of making a cooling body mist on the back of one of my essential oils and I had to share. Here is how to make your own cooling body mist without breaking the bank.

Combine the water and essential oil into your empty mist bottle. Once you have made your spray you can spritz away and enjoy the cooling, refreshing, and relaxing feeling of the essential oil mist.

Ingredients:
Empty Mist bottle
3 drops of lemon essential oil
2 drops of peppermint essential oil
1 drop of lavendar essential oil
1 ounce of water

DIY Chai Tea Latte

Chai Tea Latte

Chai tea lattes have to be my go to drink of choice when I want to relax. And while you could very well just head over to Starbs and buy one there, I’m going to tell you how you can make your own at home for cheaper.

Ingredients:

Tazo Classic Latte Chai Black Tea

Milk of your choice

Okay, okay… I know that this is not a complete DIY because you’re not technically making the chai tea; however, you get so much more bang for your buck just by buying this one ingredient. I get my chai black tea from Target or Amazon, but I bet you could go to just about any grocery store and find something similar. The best part about this tea is that it’s under five dollars and it makes at least six servings.

All you have to do to make the perfect Starbucks Chai Tea Latte at home is pour a one to one ratio of milk to tea. Then add ice if you want it iced or heat it up if you want it warm. It’s just that simple!

Hope y’all found some of these spa day ideas useful! What are some of your favorite ways to relax at home? We would love to hear them in the comments below!
Love, Emily & Alyssa
