Ways to Style

Hair Scarves

I’m always looking for new ways to change up my hair or spice up a plain outfit. When hair scarves became trendy again, I could not have been more happy. Hair scarves are so fun and versatile. These days, it seems like everyone has them and everyone is obsessed with them… I know I am. These small pieces of fabric are great statements. They can elevate your style and can transform a boring look into a super cute one! Here are six simple and quick ways to style hair scarves.

Whenever I think about buns, the first thing that usually comes to mind is lazy outfits and second day hair. Why not change that stigma and put in a hair scarf! Putting your hair in a simple high or low bun and wrapping a hair scarf around it is one of my favorite ways to transform a bad hair day into a great one.

I know, I know… so basic, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I feel like ponytails are everybody’s go to hairstyle when they don’t know what to do with their hair. The simple ponytail is the perfect example of how a scarf can elevate an outfit.

So simple, yet so cute. I love this way of wearing a hair scarf because it literally takes 30 seconds to do and there is absolutely no way to go wrong. Just wrap the scarf around your head and you’re done!

This hair scarf style is by far the trendiest of them all. I have seen people wearing this hairstyle all over the place. The easiest way to do this hairstyle is to pull out a few front pieces of hair and pull the rest back into a ponytail. Next, fold the hair scarf in half, making a triangle. Then, simply wrap the scarf over top of your head and tie the two ends at the base of your head. After that, you can remove the pony tail and the hairstyle is complete.

This way of wearing a hair scarf is one of my favorites. Whether your hair is curled, straightened, or natural, this hairstyle will look great on you. There is something so elegant about having your hair pulled back and out of your face, while also having your hair flow down in the back. The best part about this hairstyle is that it looks good in a bun too!

This hairstyle is a little more advanced than the others, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do it easily. Two dutch braids into a ponytail can seem intimidating if you are not the best at braiding; however, the beauty about this hairstyle is that if it looks messy, that’s okay. In fact, my secret for making dutch braids look good is to pull the braid apart as much as possible. If a few front pieces fall out the braid… even better. Add a hair scarf to the pony tail where the braids come together and you are good to go.

Tip

Styling Tip: I love to style hair scarves with minimal outfits and bold jewelry. Remember, these scarves are the statement of the outfit. This means pairing them with black, white, or muted tones is the way to go! And, because it’s a simple outfit, there’s more freedom to explore overstated jewelry like necklaces or earrings that you might not usually wear.

I hope y’all found some of these tips useful! What are your favorite ways to style hair scarves? We would love to hear them in the comments below!
